Stephen was an absolutely incredible DJ! From start to finish, the energy on the dance floor was next level. He was able to read our crowd perfectly at our wedding and kept the dance floor packed all night long. The transitions were flawless, and the music was a perfect mix of crowd-pleasers and fresh hits. With the mix in of the piano it was more than just a DJ playing a setlist, it was an experience! Also communication with Stephen leading up to the day was always easy and enjoyable. 10/10 recommend Darby Events!

We hired Stephen to dj our wedding. Our goal was to have our wedding be a giant party. He 100000% delivered. Our guests did not get off the dance floor and are still raving about how awesome of a DJ he is. I can't rave about Stephen enough!! We came to Stephen with specific requests to figure out how to manage our very specific music taste while being able to incorporate every generation of guests. He also knew how to manage our ceremony music, according to our order of events and adjusted on the fly. His ability to play the piano was a huge-entertainment piece, especially during dinner. Not only did he deliver, he EXCELLED. Every age was out on the dance floor from the beginning to the very end. We were constantly having "NO WAY"/mind-blowing responses when he played a new song. You know the music is good when three guests are asking for business cards at the end of the night, and two aren't even getting married anytime soon, but wanted for when the time comes. I have been trying to figure out ways to get Stephen back into our lives post-wedding. He was the most worth-it vendor and one of my absolute highlights.

I cannot say enough about how great our experience with Darby was. Given the local and national name recognition, we knew that the music was going to be awesome but what really stood out was how professional he was. He knew exactly what needed to be planned and was very transparent (in a fun, honest way) about what he’s seen work well and what hasn’t. Holy cow Darby was UNREAL! From the planning documents, zoom calls, emails, and day of execution everything was perfect. He did an amazing job of reading the room and playing music that was appropriate throughout the evening, and made sure people were out on the dance floor all night long. Darby is extremely talented and he received endless compliments from our guests that night. “He KILLED IT” or “where’d you find him?” We’re just a few of the comments we heard. From the first dance to the last song, he knocked it out of the park and we couldn’t be happier that we could have him on our special day.

Every review saying "WOW" on here is being honest; Darby Events went above and beyond in their DJ and Piano services! When my husband and I first communicated with Stephen about booking him, he was so easy to get along with. I grilled him a bit about what exactly we would get with the cost of his services (amazing yet subtle microphone equipment for the ceremony, actual mixing of tracks, live piano playing, a great team in case of emergency) and we were satisfied with what we heard. In hindsight, he probably undersold a bit. Stephen's ability to take what he knows about the couples' music taste, read the crowd at the actual event, and adapt accordingly was beyond phenomenal. We barely had a chance to rest because if we weren't addressing our guests, we were out on the dance floor. I cannot recommend Darby Events enough!

Darby is not just a DJ, he is truly an entertainer. He made our reception a blast!! He read the room so well and knew exactly when to play what music we previously requested. Not to mention his amazing piano skills, which are second to none. Our guests were going on and on about how great of a DJ he was and how into the party he got. Darby was the one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. Talk about giving someone minimal direction and them crafting EXACTLY what you want. He has a very detailed questionnaire and asks all the right questions to understand your musical taste and what you want and don't want at your wedding. He offers plenty of services not only for the reception but also for the ceremony itself. We added a photo booth to our package which was so much fun and our guests really loved all the memories. When it came to the wedding day, he was set up and ready to rock. The music was everything we wanted the entire evening and his MC skills are awesome. Our guests STAYED on the dance floor all night and we had such a mixed crowd of ages and musical interests and he kept them all entertained. He really knows his craft and I really appreciated all the work he put into making that night memorable for us. Darby is hands down the best! I got a recommendation of someone who used him and he got a great review. I booked him from out of state and he made me feel so confident in the choice of him DJing our wedding. Stephen chatted with me over the phone before the wedding and we were instantly on the same page about what I wanted for the reception and what he could offer. After the phone call I was so excited for the day. First off, the first song he played was my favorite John Mayer song during dinner and I did not even tell him - it is just like he knew. I found his youtube page and after listening to his mash-up videos about 400 times, I knew we had to have him at our wedding! From our prelude music, Jimmy Buffett father daughter dance, and the party music that kept the dance floor packed, Darby made the night a party to remember! By the end of the night when it was time for our private last dance, we were truly sad that the night was already over! Planning a destination wedding in South Carolina was tough not being able to see most vendors in person - one decision we made that we were 10000% sure on was booking Darby Events! Stephen was so helpful when first starting out, and has such an infectious energy! We loved how he could mix in songs with playing the piano, added such a cool vibe to our wedding. I am from florida, my now wife is from massachusetts ( where we currently live) we planned a destination wedding in Charleston. I am the music guy. I have the beach boom box, the home theatre system, the poolside stereo. Anything with music I have! I love everything that has to do with music. I have everything from christian rock to 90's country to the eagles to plies to james taylor to the backstreet boys on my phone. I listen to everything but screamo. When I was referred to DJ Darby via Lowndes Grove in Charleston my search ended. I had done a bit of research and sure, if you want to pay $4,000 plus for a kid to plug in his macbook by all means go ahead. BUT, if you want straight raw talented ENTERTAINMENT for you and your guests Stephen is THE GUY. He blended in everything from 90's country for our father-daughter and mother-son dances. then jumped right into some classic rock for our parents /older guests and the rest of the night it was just banger, after banger, after banger. Thank god our photographer was there to grab us for our cake cutting / sunset photos at Lowndes Grove because we would not have left the dance floor. From our first conversation to a week before our wedding, stephen was there every step of the way. By the time our wedding day rolled around it was like saying hello to a friend attending the wedding. He took requests and blended them as well. My favorite part was he asked what songs to we wanted him to play but, after watching him on youtube during quarantine we just told him you show us what you got and have fun with it and HE DID NOT DISAPPOINT! my FIL was a former drummer and said he spent a few songs just watching him work between keyboards and computer and the transitions were "flawless" he never missed a beat. I could go on and on about DJ Darby but I'll leave ya'll with this. If you don't select him to entertain at your wedding, and I say that because your guests will talk non stop about it, YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG! The best price, for the best value, you will get in chucktown!!!

Stephen is, hands-down, the best wedding DJ I have ever heard. Just incredible. I had guests tell me they wanted to re-do their wedding just so they could hire Stephen to do their wedding. Others told me they wanted to see him come to our city on a tour. His own mixes with the piano were sublime and his ability to flow from song to song was perfect. I want recordings of his piano mixes for a ton of songs. He also did the lightning (he transformed the space entirely), the photo booth and the ceremony audio. All perfect, no hassle, and the photo booth in particular was a huge hit. I can't recommend Stephen enough. I want to hire him for every event I have.

By far the absolute coolest and most amazing DJ experience I've seen at a wedding, and I'm not just biased because it was ours! Stephen Darby creates such a memorable experience with his combination of piano that you will be blown away. Our guests enjoyed really nice combinations of acoustic piano through dinner and then they were kept dancing all night. Stephen is incredible. He first played at my brother's wedding and after having a little too good of a time there I knew we needed him at our wedding. He knows exactly how to get a crowd up and dancing. And not just my young friends! My parents, who I have never seen on the dance floor for longer than 10 minutes, were there for over an hour. The mixes he creates with his keyboard makes everyone want to dance! We also hired him to do our up lighting which he did a fantastic job on. Outside of the day of, Stephen is extremely professional and easy to work with. I had to move my wedding from 2020 to 2021 and he was able to do so seamlessly while keeping all of our information and payment applicable to the new date. If you are wanting you wedding to not only be beautiful but also FUN, you have to hire Darby events.

Some people are good at what they do, some people are great. Stephen, however, has absolutely mastered the art of being a wedding DJ and an MC. Everything about him and his entire setup is elite. The ceremony went flawlessly without a single hold up or issue with the speakers, microphones, etc. In terms of the reception, Stephen's ability to take your interests/musical tastes and transform them into something amazing is truly unique. He was so in touch with the crowd the entire night and we cannot thank him enough for that! The live piano that he incorporates into his work is what really takes him to the next level and sets him apart from others in the industry. With Stephen, you are getting an incredibly talented and experienced artist, not just a DJ. We also booked his Photo booth services, which were of course top notch as well. The photo booth he uses is super high tech and he brought along an assistant to help operate it, who was also very fun to be around and interacted great with the guests. On top of it all, he was also just a super cool dude to talk to before and after the wedding. We even had some changes just minutes/seconds before some things would happen and he adjusted and reacted flawlessly to everything. We could not have asked anything more from him. I cant even begin to tell you how many of the compliments we received the day after the wedding were about how great he was the entire night. Planning a wedding is stressful. Do yourself a favor, book Darby events, leave the rest up to Stephen and have one less thing to worry about come your wedding day!

Best DJ out there. Stephen is the life of the party and plays the keyboard which adds a fun edition. Everyone danced all night long to the very last minute. Every single song he played was AMAZING. Such a cool dude and highly recommend him!

Stephen Darby is easily the best DJ out there. We did not even have to give him songs we wanted he was able to read the room and play all the songs we loved. I do not think for one second I or any of our guests left the dance floor. The combo he has with the keyboard is like no other DJ I have seen. Overall it was one of the best nights of our lives and Stephen contributed to that immensely. 10/10 would reccommend.

We had a small (37 person) Wedding and I was worried people wouldn't dance. I was so WRONG!! Darby had people dancing on the dance floor all night! So wonderful. We've had so many guests tell us how amazing our DJ was!!

Stephen was so amazing!!! From the very first time we spoke to him on the phone, we were so excited to have found him! He was very easy to communicate with, he always got back very quickly with any questions we had, and was SO GOOD on our wedding day!! My husband and I, and all of our friends and families keep talking about how amazing he was! He kept us all on the dance floor THE ENTIRE NIGHT! He kept the good tunes going all night long and was a huge reason why we all had so much fun! We did a Venezuelan tradition called "La Hora Loca" and he absolutely crushed it-you would have thought he was venezuelan or hispanic himself! All of the songs were ON POINT! I wish I could have another party so that he could DJ for us again! He also is so good on his piano-the music during dinner sounded so beautiful. I could not recommend Stephen enough!

Let me tell you...Stephen is AMAZING! Our reception was completely underneath a tent and it started to rain during the end of the evening. Stephen's equipment got wet and he was literally being shocked while playing - AND HE DID NOT STOP OR STOP SMILING. I mean, he truly gives his all when he is performing at a wedding. Our wedding was smaller due to COVID and the dance floor was packed the ENTIRE night!! He was also kind enough to let my dad play his keyboards during a song and did not even bat an eye when asked. Stephen was one of the vendors I knew I had to have prior to the wedding and he exceeded any of the expectations my husband and I had. We even had a wedding playlist made and I decided to not even give it to Stephen because he does not need it. He is the best DJ we have ever seen at a wedding and we are so grateful he was ours!

Not a DJ - Stephen Darby is an artist Like I’m sure you did, I had to start googling DJs for my wedding and I will say started out a little a scary with some of the stuff I first saw. I stumbled on a video of Darby (Stephen) on Instagram and was intrigued. I found his website, scheduled a call with him and that was the single best decision we made for our wedding. There has not been one person in attendance that when thanking us afterward, did not mention how good the music was. It was the #1 thing guests took away from our night. The music was just so exceptional. People were getting up during dinner and dancing because they couldn’t stay sat. The dance floor was packed the entire night and watching Stephen perform is just an art. He is so incredible at what he does and the way he puts music together is just not like anything you have ever heard. Older, younger and in between, everyone loved it no matter what age they were. We cant thank him enough for giving us more than we could ever expect.

Stephen is so personable and quite the professional! When dancing needed to be moved from inside the venue to outside due to an air conditioning snafu, he was so flexible. Having Stephen DJ AND play at our wedding was truly an experience we'll remember forever. The subtle piano over the music is incredibly unique and adds just enough to get you even more excited to hear your favorite songs. Right off the bat, it seemed Stephen was on the same page as my wife and I. We talked about what type of music he usually plays and the stuff we're into hearing at our wedding... and mutually agreed that mashups aren't the way to go. He assured us that wasn't his style and we were excited to hear that. He provided great insight on what songs go well and not so well with piano and let us know we could have as much or as little piano as we wanted. He also provided some demos of how he'd play the piano over our first dance song, so we could hear it ahead of time and practice. About a month prior, we sent him a playlist of songs we were interested in hearing, so he could work on a playlist based off of our tastes, with about 20-30 must-plays. He was totally flexible, awesome at reading the crowd, absolutely killed the playlist all night... and was great at keeping people on the dance flloor. And when he broke out the piano during the reception, of course everyone went nuts. Just as much as the guests told us how much they loved the venue and scenery (Boone Hall), SO many people made a point to tell us how amazing the music was and how much fun the DJ made the night for everyone. We'll have permanent memories and smiles from that night forever , and that's totally a testament to the hard work of Stephen. Thanks again for all your amazing work!

We had 400 guests and needed wow factor. I found Darby Events (Stephen) on Instagram looking at stuff for my wedding. I watched maybe 2 of his videos and loved it all. Our planning team and design team gave us referrals to different bands (they only use bands - and all from LA / Vegas) and I just didn't love it and after I found Stephen I just wanted him, even if he was in Charleston, South Carolina. One of the music agents we spoke with ironically was at a wedding Stephen was apart of and said - yeah...hes good :) And that meant alot and sealed the deal. Stephen has played for a lot of "higher profile" weddings and we learned a lot about that from a colleague of his. He's so modest but such a joy to talk to. Trying not to ramble! buuuut.... Our wedding was a massive party and the dance floor was packed. The way he plays music works for all ages and is def so special. When you see the way the piano works with it you will be amazed. We had and incredible time, it was worth every penny and I can't recommend Stephen enough. Our guests expected a band - we had the #1 DJ and it was the best decision we made.

First off, we did MAJOR research for music at our wedding. We read a ton of reviews - and reviews are so tough because you know most are fake. How can all of these companies have ALL 5 star reviews?! Its just impossible and tough to sort through but my feeling toward the review system is the reason I wanted to make sure I wrote a review for Stephen. Music was something that was so important to us. Getting married in Atlanta, GA gave us a ton of options. But nothing clicked. My friends are all getting married and we have seen so many bands and DJs as guests, most of which are Atlanta based. But we just couldn’t find something we were ready to book. 4 weeks into talking with numerous companies and music options and watching promo videos, my maid of honor sent me a video she found on Instagram. It was Darby playing a song we LOVE. We then started digging into his website and were hooked. My dad is a musician as well as the guy paying the bills. We sent him a link and in 5 minutes, Dad said “Book him. Now. That’s our guy.” Needless to say we booked Darby. From the first phone call to the last hug after our Reception, Stephen was just an amazing person to work with and an all around incredibly special guys. My husband and I (that’s fun to say) had the wedding of our dreams and it really was because of the music. When you see all of the reviews he has saying that the guests are still talking about the music, after the wedding….its 100% true. All of my guests old and young made some type of comment about how awesome and unique the music was and the best they had ever heard. Stephen is a true musician and master of his craft. You will be blown away just watching him DJ and he also brings an element of high quality that make people say “Where did you get this guy?” It was just so nice to have so many people loving the vibe but also complimenting us. This was the VERY best decision we made for our wedding. Music was the most important thing to us and we hit a grand slam. We love you Stephen! If you are a bride or groom to be, or a mom or dad doing some research, book Darby Events. Stephen is the best of the best and will change the entire dynamic of your wedding.

Absolute CLASS ACT When we started out searching for a band or DJ one of the criteria I had was NOTHING CHEESY. We have all been to those weddings with the band or DJ that is on a microphone all night yelling at the crowd like it’s a club at 1:30 AM and we just didn’t want that. We also didn’t want the same wedding music you hear over and over. We searched and searched and my husband, now my husband, :) found Darby Events. After setting up a call we knew he was our guy. Fast forward to our wedding and he was absolutely amazing. So classy and professional as an MC and his music is unlike anything we or our guests had experienced. We were just so blown away. Everyone is still talking about the DJ that played the piano and the music overall could not have been more perfect. When your guests see how he DJs and then plays the piano live, the jaws just hit the floor. He’s like a band and a DJ in one without the breaks and extra crap that comes with a band. Stephen you made our wedding the greatest night of our lives and we will be forever grateful. You truly are a class - act and one of a kind. Word of advice - book him early!! We inquired almost a year and a half away and he had ours and maybe a couple dates left. You will see why when you hire him :)

Truly unforgettable and Stephen made it happen. The gist of this review: If you are looking for a classy, high-end, insanely talented and memorable entertainer for your wedding - you WILL NOT find anything better than Stephen from Darby Events. We stumbled upon a video of Stephen on Instagram and were instantly hooked to his style. I knew what he did was special so my bride brain instantly emailed, messaged and called him :) In a matter of hours we got a message back and set up a call. After one conversation we both knew he had to be our guy - even if he was located half away across the country. So that is what we did. And it was the best decision we made for our wedding. After hours of watching videos and sound clips, searching for bands, finding his Instagram post made us realize how this would be perfect for our guests. The #1 thing that my husband did not want was "cheesy." As he describes it - the guy on the mic all night acting like a hype man, overdoing it, screaming LETS GO forty times :) Stephen was the absolute 180 of that. He MC'd the entire evening, but in a way that was classy and far from the cringeworthy DJ you have all seen at a wedding. The way he plays music is so appealing to all ages and it made our group really come together. Watching my 60 year old uncle rocking out to an "Outkast" cover by Stephen playing live on the piano....... was priceless. We visited each table during dinner to thank our guests and had over 10 people say, "where did you find this guy?" We still have people talking about the music at our wedding! I can't thank Stephen enough for making our wedding something we will never forget. He offers something you just won't see and it’s something that makes a HUGE difference on the overall outcome. You don’t realize how important music is until you understand it happens at your wedding for 5 hours :) Stephen will blow your mind!

We hired Stephen for our destination wedding in Charleston and were really excited about him because he stood out from other DJs (i.e. he plays the piano while he plays music). Upon hiring him my husband specifically asked Stephen if he MC's during the reception as this was an important aspect for us. Knowing our group of guests, we knew we would need help getting people onto the dance floor and keeping them engaged. Stephen said yes, this wouldn't be a problem at all. A few weeks prior to our wedding we were asked to fill out a flowsheet which went through song requests, what songs were to be played during each event, would we allow requests, etc. I indicated that I wanted Frank Sinatra played during dinner service. On the day of, dinner started with a non-Frank song, then a Frank song was played, and then a completely different song. My husband had to get up during our dinner to go ask Stephen to play the music we had requested to be played. Stephen did not MC during the party. One of our friends, who is a DJ, ended up stepping up to the plate and helped to get the party started. This was really disappointing to reflect on. Finally, I indicated I did not want Stephen to take requests. During the course of the night I heard Cotton Eye Joe playing ... a song I did not request, nor would have wanted played. I was told by a guest that my aunt had requested the song, and then overheard my mother saying she had gone and requested a song, which was played. Stephen was the only disappointing part of our wedding. We made room in our small budget to have Stephen be our DJ because he seemed special and different, and it's really disheartening to look back and think that we wasted money.
